Tidal Chess

Set sail for a classic game of chess against the computer! Tidal Chess gives you a clean sea-blue board, hand-drawn pieces and four levels from Beginner to Expert, so every player finds a worthy opponent. Plan your attack, protect your king and checkmate the computer. Take back a blunder with Undo, and play with sound or in silence, on your phone or your computer.

How to play Tidal Chess

You play white against the computer. Click or tap a piece to see where it can go, then click a highlighted square—or drag the piece there. On a keyboard use the arrow keys to move the cursor, Enter or Space to pick up and drop a piece, Escape to cancel, U to undo, R to restart and M to mute. All the rules of chess apply: castling, en passant, promotion (you choose the new piece) and check. The game ends in checkmate, stalemate, or a draw by repetition, the fifty-move rule or too few pieces. Choose a level on the start screen: higher levels think deeper and make fewer mistakes. Wins score more on harder levels and in fewer moves, but every Undo costs some points. The game interface is in English. Good luck, captain! ♟️
